Earliest forms of worship involved the divine feminine. Anthropologists and archaeologists have discovered evidence of feminine deity statuary and worship that pre-dates anything they have ever discovered about the worship of a male deity.
Images of female form, either human or deity, have been found in all cultures and religions, even those who strongly identify with a masculine Godhead.
The Goddess, just as God.... assumes many faces and many forms throughout the history of humanity.
Unfortunately, she has been largely ignored and exiled from our churches and Western culture. If interested, click here for interesting texts (missing from the list is one of my favorites: The Dance of the Dissident Daughter: by Sue Monk Kidd).
This series is just beginning.... more to come soon! Note: Luna Divina Series is related to this theme.
